If your employer offers health insurance, consider taking it for a good price. The money comes out of your check before you pay taxes, and is much more affordable than health insurance you’d buy on your own. If your spouse works, compare your plans and go with the one that provides the most benefits.

If you are new on the job, make sure you communicate with your boss. Lack of communication can lead to mistrust and termination. Report as often as possible with the information you were asked to get. Your boss will appreciate the touch points and give you feedback on what’s necessary and good practice for the future.
